Introduction: Annual herb. Stems twining, slender, to 4 m long, angular, densely covered with yellow, spreading tomentum. Stipules minute, lanceolate, deciduous; petiole 1.5-4 cm long; leaflets membranous, terminal leaflet long-elliptic or long-ovate, 2.5-6 cm long, 1-2.2 cm wide, apex acute, base rounded, shiny above, sparsely, closely appressed yellow pilose, densely hairy below; lateral veins 5-6 on each side; stipules linear, 3 mm long; petiolules 1-2 mm long, pilose. Racemes axillary, 2.5-4 cm long, pilose, involucral pedicel ca. 2 cm long; flowers small, with 6-10 flowers above middle; bracts lanceolate; pedicel ca. 5 mm; bracteoles inserted at base of calyx, similar to bracts; calyx membranous, 3-4 mm long, abaxially pilose, lobes 5, ovate-lanceolate and shorter than calyx tube; corolla white at first, later fading to rose-red or purple, with flagellum ca. 4 mm, wing petals oblong, base truncate, keel petals rhombic; ovary hairy. Pods linear, flattened, ca. 4 cm long, 3.5-4 mm wide, pendulous, pubescent, apex with persistent curved hook-like style; seeds 5-9, brownish black, oblong-ellipsoid, 4 mm long, 2 mm wide.

Native range: S Taiwan and Hainan. It is often found in sparse thickets and wastelands at low to middle elevations. It is also found in India, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Indonesia, and the Philippines.

Flowering and Fruit: Fl. June-July, fr. Sept.-Oct.
